Terms & conditions

Publisher: codewizardlab (product: Capture WizardLab; publisher brand: CodeWizardLab). Contact: sales@codewizardlab.com. Version 2026-10-15.5.

You decide what to capture and how to use it. Capture only what you are legally entitled to record. Obtain all permissions, consents and notices required by the laws that apply to you and to the people and content involved.

These terms apply to use of Capture WizardLab worldwide wherever its use is lawful. They do not make unlawful recording lawful, transfer legal duties that cannot be transferred, or waive mandatory consumer, privacy or other statutory rights. The English text below is the terms presented for acceptance; interface language settings do not translate it.

1. Agreement and eligibility

By selecting “I accept”, you agree to these terms for your use of the extension. You must have legal capacity to agree, or valid authorization from a parent, guardian or organization where the law allows it. If you use the app for an organization, you confirm your authority to accept for it. If you do not agree, do not capture with the app; you may still view or export your existing local captures and uninstall it. Keep a copy of the terms for your records.

2. Your recording responsibilities

You are responsible for selecting capture sources, starting and stopping recordings, and deciding what to keep, edit, export, upload, disclose or publish. Before any capture, determine which laws apply, including those of your location, the location of recorded people, and the source or destination of the content. Obtain and document all required consents, licences, permissions and notices. Where notice or consent from every participant is required, obtain it before recording. Browser permission to capture a screen is a technical permission; it does not establish anyone’s legal consent.

Respect privacy, confidentiality, intellectual property, publicity and image rights, employment rules, contractual restrictions and platform terms. Take particular care with meetings, calls, workplace monitoring, children, private communications, health or financial information, credentials and legally privileged material. If unsure whether a capture is lawful, do not capture it until you have resolved that question.

3. Prohibited use

You must not use the extension to conduct unlawful or non-consensual surveillance; stalk, harass, threaten, extort or impersonate someone; steal credentials or trade secrets; publish intimate material without lawful authority; exploit children; infringe copyright or other rights; evade access controls or copy protections; or assist another person with such conduct. Do not misrepresent edited media as an authentic or unaltered record where doing so is unlawful or deceptive. Use of the app is not an endorsement of your content by codewizardlab.

4. Content ownership and data protection

You retain the rights you already have in your captures. The app does not give you ownership of someone else’s content or a licence to record or redistribute it. You are responsible for the legality, accuracy, security, retention and permitted disclosure of your captures. If your activities make you a controller of personal data, you are responsible for the duties that law assigns to you, such as a lawful basis, transparency, security, retention limits and handling individual rights. The publisher remains responsible for its own legal duties; these terms do not override statutory allocations of responsibility.

5. Local storage and optional services

Capture processing and the library run locally in your browser. You are responsible for protecting your device, backing up needed files, and checking exports before relying on them. Browser storage can be cleared, corrupted or removed when the extension is uninstalled. Optional Google Drive uploads and PayPal donations involve separate providers under their own terms and privacy notices. Only upload content you are entitled to share, and check sharing settings. See Privacy for the app’s data practices.

6. Non-commercial purpose, free use and optional donations

Capture WizardLab is offered as a free, non-commercial community tool. The publisher does not sell access, recordings or a paid feature tier. Donations are voluntary support, not a payment for access. This description is a statement of purpose; it does not by itself establish charitable or tax-exempt status, remove legal duties, authorize infringement, or determine how a court or authority classifies a particular activity.

All app features are free, including unlimited recordings, all quality and frame-rate settings, effects and emoticons. There is no purchase or paid licence required. A gentle in-app reminder may appear once an hour while the app is available and idle. You can dismiss it or turn reminders off in Settings without losing any features. No payment page opens automatically. A PayPal donation is entirely optional and does not unlock features, buy ownership, create a subscription, or guarantee support or future updates. Check the recipient and amount on PayPal before approving. No charitable status or tax deduction is represented. PayPal may apply its own fees and terms. Contact support about a mistaken donation; any refund rights required by applicable law remain in force.

7. Software licence

The app’s original source code is supplied under the included MIT licence. Third-party components remain subject to their included notices. The bundled Fluent Emoji artwork is copyright Microsoft Corporation and supplied under the MIT licence; its copyright and permission notice must be retained when redistributing copies or substantial portions. See Emoji artwork licence. No royalty payments are required by that licence, and no Microsoft endorsement or trademark permission is implied. These use terms do not remove permissions granted by those open-source licences. They describe the responsibilities and service conditions for using the app distributed by codewizardlab.

8. Capture restrictions, security and recording limits

Capture is blocked on listed paid film and TV streaming services and on pages containing an identifiable embedded source from those services. Ordinary video and audio elements are not blocked by themselves. YouTube, Twitch, Vimeo and Spotify are allowed. Screen and window recording are disabled because their contents cannot be reliably checked against the site restrictions. The list cannot identify every service or every embedded source. Do not use unlisted sources or modify the app to evade platform restrictions, access controls or the lawful-use responsibilities in these terms.

The app uses local packaged code and browser security controls. No software is guaranteed invulnerable. Unpacked or redistributed copies can be modified; checks inside the app cannot prevent a device owner from changing them. Official Chrome Web Store distribution uses Chrome’s package verification protections, subject to Chrome’s policies and platform limits.

The app is a general-purpose tool. The publisher does not review your local captures, give legal permission to record, or certify a recording’s completeness, authenticity, admissibility, security or fitness for a particular purpose. Except for warranties or remedies that applicable law requires, the app is provided “as is” and “as available”. No uninterrupted operation, compatibility, recovery or preservation of data is guaranteed. Do not rely on it as your sole record where loss or error could cause harm.

9. Responsibility for misuse and claims

You are responsible, to the extent allowed by applicable law, for your unlawful use of the app and the resulting harm for which you are legally liable. The publisher does not authorize misuse and is not responsible merely because its software was used to create a capture. This does not exclude responsibility that law assigns to the publisher for its own conduct.

For users acting in business, and only to the extent enforceable, you agree to indemnify the publisher against reasonable third-party claims, final damages and reasonable legal costs directly caused by your unlawful capture, distribution or other material breach of these terms. The publisher must promptly notify you, reasonably cooperate, and allow you a reasonable opportunity to defend; no settlement imposing obligations on you may be agreed without your consent. This clause does not cover loss caused by the publisher’s own breach, negligence or intentional wrongdoing. No consumer indemnity is imposed where prohibited or unfair under applicable law.

10. Limits of liability and mandatory rights

To the maximum extent applicable law permits, the publisher excludes liability for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits and loss of data arising from use of the app. Where a monetary limit for ordinary negligence is lawful, aggregate liability is limited to EUR0 (zero euros). These exclusions and limits do not apply to fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, intentional wrongdoing, death or personal injury caused by negligence, gross negligence where it cannot be limited, or any other liability or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted. Mandatory consumer remedies and data-protection rights prevail. Where a clause is unenforceable, it applies only to the lawful extent, without reducing mandatory protection.

11. Law, disputes and severability

Subject to mandatory applicable law, Bulgarian law governs these terms. Consumers keep any mandatory protections and rights to bring proceedings in their home jurisdiction that apply despite a choice of law. These terms do not impose exclusive foreign courts, mandatory arbitration or a waiver of collective or statutory remedies. Contact support first if practical to resolve a concern. If a provision cannot be enforced, the remaining provisions continue to the extent lawful.

12. Changes, withdrawal and contact

Material changes will be presented as a new terms version for acceptance before further captures; they are not applied retroactively to past conduct. You may stop using and uninstall the extension at any time. To report suspected misuse, an infringement or a problem with these terms, contact sales@codewizardlab.com. Do not send private recordings or sensitive personal information unless specifically needed and lawfully shareable.
